Foodentity Privacy Policy

At UtilityLab, we believe that your health data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy describes how Foodentity (the "App") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide a personalized health experience.

Account Information: When you create an account, we store your email and authentication credentials via Supabase.

Scanned Data: We maintain a history of your scanned barcodes and "Saved Items" to allow you to track your nutritional habits.

Premium Data: If you are a Premium user, we store your "Shopping Lists" and "Alternative Product" preferences. This data may be cached locally on your device using Hive for offline access.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the data collected to:

• Calculate personalized Health Scores (0–100) for scanned products.
• Provide real-time allergen alerts based on your profile.
• Sync your shopping lists across devices via our cloud backend.
• Improve our scoring algorithms (using anonymized, aggregated data).

3. Data Storage and Security

Cloud Storage: We use Supabase for secure, encrypted cloud storage of your profile and saved items.

Local Storage: For Premium users, we use Hive to store an encrypted local cache of the ingredient dictionary and product data, enabling offline functionality.

Encryption: All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS protocols.

4. Third-Party Services

Open Food Facts API: The App pulls nutritional data from the Open Food Facts database. We do not share your personal profile, identity, or location with Open Food Facts. We only send the barcode number to retrieve product details.

Payment Processors: Subscription payments for Premium features are handled by third-party stores (Apple App Store/Google Play Store). UtilityLab does not store your credit card information.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Access and Export: You can view your scanned history and profile settings within the app at any time.

Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data through the "Profile" section of the App. Once deleted, your data is permanently removed from our Supabase production servers.

Offline Mode: Users can manage their local cache within the app settings.

6. Children’s Privacy

Foodentity is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
